The purpose of the UDC guidelines for wireless telecommunication facilities aims to protect and promote public safety, and to minimize and mitigate any adverse visual or aesthetic impacts on the community while promoting the orderly development of telecommunication facilities within Shreveport Caddo Parish. Installation, construction, alteration, modification or replacement of telecommunications towers and antennas must adhere to the application processes as outlined on this page. *This page is specifically for wireless modification.*

A wireless modification is the process of upgrading new and existing equipment on existing wireless telecommunication towers.

A wireless telecommunications facility permit (WTFP) is the official permit which allows an applicant to file for a building permit to construct and use a wireless telecommunications facility. Contact the MPC office at 318-673-6480 to initiate a WTFP application. 

A small wireless facility is the official permit which allows an applicant to file for a building permit to construct and use a small wireless telecommunications facility.  Small Cell applications are specific to the City of Shreveport. For small cell applications on public rights-of-way, please contact the City's Engineering Department at 318-673-6000.

 

APPLICATION INFORMATION

For Online Applications:

  1. Logon to MyGovernmentOnline.
    • We use a third party application called MyGovernmentOnline (MGO) for our online applications. If you have not used MGO before, please follow the Customer Portal Guide to set up an account.
    • Once an account has been created follow the "Apply Online" link at the end of the instructions to start your application. For assistance in applying online, please follow the step by step Online Application Submittal Guide.
    • When selecting an Application Type, choose "Wireless Telecommunication Facility".
    • Ensure all items from the checklist are included in your application. Refer to the Application Checklist section of this page.
      • Wireless Modification Application.  
      • Structural Analysis. 
      • Construction Document.
      • Lease Agreement.
    • Once submitted you will receive a confirmation message and application number (i.e. APP-MPC-####). The Shreveport MPC will receive your application and review the application. You will be contacted for additional information or to progress to the next step.
  2. Submit Payment.
    • Once you have received your invoice, you may submit payment online at MyGovernmentOnline.com or in person on the first floor of Government Plaza at the cashier window. For assistance with making an online payment, please use the Online Payment Guide. 
  3. Await MPC Staff approval.
    • At this time, MPC staff as well as a consultant will review your application.
    • You will be contacted if staff or the consultant have any comments or any documents require some changes.
  4. Receive sign approval by the Executive Director.
    • You may now begin construction once you have received signed approval by the Executive Director.
