The variance process offers a limited way to get relief from unexpected situations. The Zoning Board of Appeals reviews all variance applications formally. Yet, the Executive Director has the power to approve specific administrative exceptions. The goal of these exceptions is to ease minor practical challenges.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

For Paper Forms:

  1. Print or download the application form via the "Application PDF" link at the end of the instructions.
    • Fill out the application. Ensure all items from the checklist are included in your application. Refer to the Application Checklist section of this page.
      • Site Plan. 
      • Poof of Hardship.
      • Impact Statement.
      • Property Owner Certification 
      • Proof of Ownership
      • Legal Description
      • LA Secretary of State Business Filing - if applicable. 
      • NPP meeting form and invitation letter - if applicable. 
    • You may submit your application via this page below, mail, e-mail, or in person.
    • Once submitted you will receive a confirmation message and application number (i.e. APP-MPC-####). The Shreveport MPC will receive your application and review the application. You will be contacted for additional information or to progress to the next step.
  2. Submit Payment.
    • Once you have received your invoice, you may submit payment in person on the first floor of Government Plaza at the cashier window. If you have a MyGovernmentOnline account, you may submit payment online. For assistance with making an online payment, please use the Online Payment Guide.
  3. Await administrative approval
    • At this time, MPC Staff will review your application.
    • You will be contacted if staff have any questions or comments.
    • The Executive Director must render a decision within 30 days of the date listed on the required notice, and either approve, approve with conditions, or deny the application.
