View Checklist
The following items are required in order to submit an application.
Application
Site Plan
- Submit any site plans, elevations, or other drawings with measurements as required for the specific type of variance. Please contact MPC staff at 318-673-6480 for any clarification. All sign variance requests must include renderings of the proposed sign and a rendering of a sign that would be permitted by the code.
Proof of Hardship
- Submit some form of proof of hardship that identifies your need for a variance. Note that there must be some hardship in order to receive a variance. Financial or self-induced conditions are not considered hardships.
Impact Statement
- Describe how the granting of a variance WILL NOT negatively impact the health, safety, and welfare of the general public in the immediate area OR disrupt the essential character of the neighborhood.
Property Owner Certification
- If applying online, please make sure you have filled out the Property Owner Certification form here.
Showing Proof of Ownership & Legal Description
- You will need to provide documentation showing an accurate legal description of the property. Additionally, proof of ownership and authority to sign is required. Example forms include the Caddo Parish Tax Assessment, a tax certificate, deed, and mortgage note/letter.
LA Secretary of State Business Filing
- If the property is owned by a company, you will need to provide the LA Secretary of State business filing or other documentation showing that the person signing the Property Owner Certification form is an authorized Officer/Agent of the company. Neighborhood Participation Plan
- If your case requires a Neighborhood Participation Plan (NPP), a NPP Meeting Form and Invitation Letter will be required at the same time as the rezoning application. See the Neighborhood Participation Plan page for additional information. The NPP application must be summitted no later than with the project application.
