A request for the special approval of a creative and flexible development that is a less than of five acres. For developments that cover more than five acres, see Planned Unit Development (PUD).

*Prior to completing a Special Use Permit, applicants will need to undergo a Pre-Application Conference (PAC). A Neighborhood Participation Plan may also be required for properties within the city limits.


APPLICATION INFORMATION

For Online Applications:

  1. Logon to MyGovernmentOnline.
    • We use a third party application called MyGovernmentOnline (MGO) for our online applications. If you have not used MGO before, please follow the Customer Portal Guide to set up an account.
    • Once an account has been created follow the "Apply Online" link at the end of the instructions to start your application. For assistance in applying online, please follow the step by step Online Application Submittal Guide.
    • Ensure all items from the checklist are included in your application. Refer to the Application Checklist section of this page.
      • Property Owner Certification 
      • Proof of Ownership
      • Preliminary Site Plan
      • PUD Preliminary Site Plan Checklist
      • Proposed Ordinance Relief / Additional Uses / Amenities Submittal Letter
      • LA Secretary of State Business Filing - if applicable
      • NPP meeting form and invitation letter - if applicable
    • When selecting an Application Type, choose "Small Planned Unit Development"
    • Once submitted you will receive a confirmation message and application number (i.e. APP-MPC-####). The Shreveport MPC will receive your application and review the application. You will be contacted for additional information or to progress to the next step.
  2. Submit Payment.
    • Once you have received your invoice, you may submit payment online at MyGovernmentOnline.com or in person on the first floor of Government Plaza at the cashier window. For assistance with making an online payment, please use the Online Payment Guide. 
  3. Attend the Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) Public Meeting.
    • After internal review by MPC Staff, your application will be put on the next available MPC Agenda. You will receive information on the date of your case hearing. It is recommended that the applicant or representative attends the public meeting.
    • The Metropolitan Planning Commission will evaluate the application at the public hearing and make a recommendation on your case: Approval, Denial, or Deferral.
    • After the MPC has provided a recommendation, the application will go to the Parish Commission or City Council.
  4. Await Parish Commission or City Council's decision.
    • Once the case reaches the Parish Commission or City Council, their Staff assumes management of the case.
