Report A Violation

The Zoning Office averages over 3,500 zoning inspections per year. Since there are only three enforcement officers who cover the entire planning limits, (approximately 300 square miles), violations are handled on a complaint basis. The Zoning Office depends greatly on the general pubic to notify it when violations, or suspected violations, are found. Types of zoning violations typically reported to the Zoning Office include:

  • Illegal signs
  • Farm animals
  • Auto repair in residential areas
  • Home-based businesses
  • Vehicles parked in yards
  • Large vehicles parked in non-designated areas
  • Commercial businesses operating in residential areas
  • Boarding houses
  • Secondary Structures
  • Unapproved mobile homes
  • Illegal fences
  • Construction without permits
  • Illegal setbacks
  • Bushes exceeding 3 feet
  • Unapproved tire storage
  • Storage of inoperable/operable vehicles
  • Multifamily dwellings
  • Commercial auto sales
  • Unapproved enclosures
  • RV used as residence
  • Illegal hours of operation
